Men Are Entitled To Their Preferences Too
I was gonna title this article, “Stop Caring About The Preferences of People You Aren’t Fucking” but Yoast told me that title was too long. Yet while that’s not the title of this article, that will be the underlying theme of everything I say here.
One of the things that pisses me off is when women are dragged all over social media and the Kevin Samuels section of YouTube for stating that they want men with a certain high income, or a certain height, or who live a certain lifestyle. Now don’t get me wrong, when I see these frowsy chicks sitting on their lazy asses talking about how men who make under $250K a year can’t sniff their musty briefs, I find that shit incredibly off-putting. But, then I’m immediately hit by two separate thoughts: first, never in a million years will I ever put myself in a position to meet this woman much less date her; and second, as much as I think she looks like a silicone-injected muppet, there’s a nigga out there who finds her beautiful and will bend over backwards to give her everything she wants. And then I realize that actually giving a fuck about what she defines as her personal dating preferences is absolutely futile and I move on with my life.
I believe women are entitled to their preferences regardless of how ignorant, intelligent, ridiculous, optimistic, or unrealistic they are.
So, with that being said, when I saw Cam Newton was trending on Twitter yesterday for comments he made about women/dating on episode 161 of the “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game” podcast, I expected to hear an absolute barrage of misogynistic bullshit. I mean, Cam Newton is the same man that belittled a female reporter to her face during a press conference because she, as a football reporter, had the audacity to understand the game of football.
Cam Newton is also the same nigga who got schooled on his own podcast by Brittany Renner for advocating that women stay with a cheating-ass man.
So, once again for context, when I heard Cam said some ignorant shit about women, I braced myself for the most sexist, troglodyte bullshit EVER. And here’s what Cam said:
Now I’ve heard a lot of outrage-worthy shit in my life, but BRUH – what the fuck are we supposed to be mad about in that fucking clip?! So this old-school, born in the south, rich and famous nigga believes in all the tenants of old-school, southern, man of the household rhetoric, and we’re collectively supposed to be outraged by that?
Cam Newton’s comments are the furthest thing from progressive. In fact, his narrow delineation of whom he views as a woman is what’s more problematic (from a gender identity perspective) than any dating perspective. But, as a man, why should I hold his comments, which he explicitly framed as his sole beliefs, to any different standard than I hold the IG-thots who show up on these musty-niggas podcasts to talk about only fucking men with private planes?
I’m not going to, because Cam Newton, just like all the men on social media who agree with his comments, are entitled to their preferences too. And, the funny thing is, there are a ton of women who are actively scouring these streets for men who think just like him. As unfortunate as you and I may find it, many women do want to cook for her man, love him up, and sit quietly while he watches Baby Boy on BET again.
At the end of the day, if there is anything I hope you take from this article it’s this: there’s a million things in the world more worthy to get worked up about than the dating preferences of niggas you don’t really care about. While it’s good to be diligent about refuting broad sexist ideologies, if a nigga wants a girl to bow down to his sexism and she’s down for it, then who the fuck are you or I to stand in the way of their musty love story?
